Wedding Ensemble

Happy Wedding Day to Candice and Matt! They are travelling to Jamaica today for their wedding. I was honored to be able to make all their invitations, wedding favor tags and embroidered beach towels for the lucky ones who went to Jamaica for the wedding. This was such an endeavor of love. This is the 3rd wedding ensemble I have done and I am looking for more to do. It is so easy with all the great cardstock and supplies offered by Stampin' Up!

She wanted to use colors that represent the ocean so we used Sahara Sand for the base, added a layer of Baja Breeze and printed on the Marbled White Vellum. The whole thing was tied together using the Organdy Ribbon. I think they turned out great and the bride was very pleased!

I will post more pieces in the next few days!

Bookmark Baby!

This is a book mark that I made the other night while doing a little internet surfing. I got this idea from Dawn's website and had to copy it for me. I am in a book club with some ladies from church and thought I would make some of these for each of those sweet ladies. I think they will love them! Thanks for the great idea Dawn!

I used some of the retired holiday striped ribbon and a piece of Always Artichoke grosgrain ribbon. The monogram is from the Lovely Letters Alphabet set. I used Real Red and Always Artichoke markers to color the stamp. I used the Designer Label punch after I stamped on the Very Vanilla cardstock. The I used a Very Vanilla piece of Hodgepodge Hardware to make the focal point. This project is fairly simple. I hope you will take the challenge to make one for yourself. It will make reading that much more fun! Get all your supplies here!

Happy Memorial Day! A Hisotry Lesson

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. There are many stories as to its actual beginnings, with over two dozen cities and towns laying claim to being the birthplace of Memorial Day. There is also evidence that organized women's groups in the South were decorating graves before the end of the Civil War: a hymn published in 1867, "Kneel Where Our Loves are Sleeping" by Nella L. Sweet carried the dedication "To The Ladies of the South who are Decorating the Graves of the Confederate Dead" (Source: Duke University's Historic American Sheet Music, 1850-1920). While Waterloo N.Y. was officially declared the birthplace of Memorial Day by President Lyndon Johnson in May 1966, it's difficult to prove conclusively the origins of the day. It is more likely that it had many separate beginnings; each of those towns and every planned or spontaneous gathering of people to honor the war dead in the 1860's tapped into the general human need to honor our dead, each contributed honorably to the growing movement that culminated in Gen Logan giving his official proclamation in 1868. It is not important who was the very first, what is important is that Memorial Day was established. Memorial Day is not about division. It is about reconciliation; it is about coming together to honor those who gave their all.

Memorial Day was officially proclaimed on 5 May 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, in his General Order No. 11, and was first observed on 30 May 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. The first state to officially recognize the holiday was New York in 1873. By 1890 it was recognized by all of the northern states. The South refused to acknowledge the day, honoring their dead on separate days until after World War I (when the holiday changed from honoring just those who died fighting in the Civil War to honoring Americans who died fighting in any war). It is now celebrated in almost every State on the last Monday in May (passed by Congress with the National Holiday Act of 1971 (P.L. 90 - 363) to ensure a three day weekend for Federal holidays), though several southern states have an additional separate day for honoring the Confederate war dead: January 19 in Texas, April 26 in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi; May 10 in South Carolina; and June 3 (Jefferson Davis' birthday) in Louisiana and Tennessee.

They Say Talk is Cheep!

This little beauty was made with my stampers club this month. We get together once a month for a little stamping, ordering and fun! This card features the In Colors as seen in the designer paper here called Good Morning Sunshine.

The card is a tent card done with Whisper White. It features a Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point and designer paper layers. The Pacific Point and the focal point birds also have paper piercing done on the edge. I also uses one of the Jumbo grommets on the front. I made my own In Color markers using reinkers and Blender pens. The image is lifted using dimensionals. The stamp set is called Cheep Talk.

Thanks for looking!

Raspberry Tart meets Sweet Stems

This card features the Styled Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware. The great thing about this little piece is that Stampin' Up! sells the perfect punch for it called Designer Label. Just stamp, color and then punch.

The colors used on this card are from the Raspberry Tart designer paper and they are Rose Red, Pirouette Pink, Kiwi Kiss and Very Vanilla. The sentiment is from the set called Holidays and Wishes.

I hope it will inspire you to keep checking back for more great ideas.

Rock-a-Bye Baby Girl

This is one of the pages I made for the Rock-a-Bye Baby Girl 6x6 scrapbook. I love the colors...Pink Pirouette, Bashful Blue, Old Olive, & Regal Rose. The Simply Scrappin' kits from the catalog make just the nicest pages. I was able to make 2 books with one kit. Each book has 10 double pages also. And I had enough stickers left over to probably make 2 more books using different background papers and cardstock. If you have never tried one of these kits...what are you waiting for? They are fun and so easy to coordinate!

Sweet Stems

This card features some of my favorite designer paper...Raspberry Tart. It has such bold and lovely colors that it is a feast for your eyes.
As an accent color, Going Gray was used as a layer and in the ribbon. I think it really makes it all pop! What a great design and card. Too bad I didn't make it, but got it from the Stampin' Up! website for demonstrators.
Enjoy!

Shaving Cream Delight

We made this great card at my last Technique class. The technique was an oldie but goodie...shaving cream. It is always fun to pull out the shaving cream to add colors and swirl up a bunch of good, clean fun! This was no exception. The colors worked together so well to make up a quick and beautiul card. If you want to know more about this technique or other classes I am offering, drop me a line! I would love to hear from you.

Urban Garden Card 2

This is another of the cards I made using the Urban Garden designer series paper. These papers are all so pretty that it would be nearly impossible not to make something fabulous using them. The stamp set featured here is called Inspired by Nature and the inks used are Not Quite Navy and Night of Navy. The edge is torn and sponged with Not Quite Navy. Case if you like... Iknow I did.

Simply Scrappin' Cards

I did the card with a few ladies using no stamps...just a pack of Simply Scrappin' called Sunshine Garden. Each person got a page of stickers and all the instructions to make 4 regular cards and 4 3x3 gift cards and a little box to hold the 3x3 cards. I think they turned out great and everyone had a good time. To me, that is what it is all about. Having a good time with friends. Join me sometime!

Pinwheel for Party

This is a cute pinwheel that I made this week in planning a party for litle girls. I happen to be partial to little girls since I have a granddaughter that is pretty grand! Anyway, I was planning a class for summer time fun and decided to do the pinwheel that Stampin' Up! posted for demonstators a couple of years ago. I think it turned out just darling. I used Bella Rose designer paper for all the projects. I think the girls will love them! Stay tuned to find out more details and when I will be hosting this little event! I used a Build-a-Brad to hold it all together.

This is one of the scrapbook pages we will be making on Monday night at 7 at my home. I have room for only one person, and it will be a baby boy book like this one. I am using the Simply Scrappin' kit Rock-a-Bye Baby for this 10 double sided 6x6 paged scrapbook. It will make a great gift for that special someone.

Urban Garden Card 1

This is a card I made using a recipe from the Stampin' Up! website for demonstrator challenges. It was a part of a class that we did where we made a box to hold 6 cards and then made 2 each of 3 different designs. This is the first card I will show you. The card is made using Baja Breeze, other cardstock colors used are Going Gray, Whisper White, Old Olive and Not Quite Navy. We used the Urban Garden desinger paper and the Bojo Blossoms punch as well. The inks were also Going Gray and Baja Breeze. The stamp set is Close as a Memory. All these products are from Stampin' Up! and can be bought by clicking to my website here.

Love You Much Card

I think this card is lovely using the basic colors of Basic Gray, Going Gray, Baja Breeze and a touch of Pirouette Pink. This would make a great Mother's Day card or anniversary card. The stamp sets featured are Love You Much and Itty Bitty Backgrounds.

Keep checking back for more inspiration in color!

Manhattan Style Watch page

This cute scrapbook page is an 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 page that uses the Designer Paper series Urban Oasis and natural white cardstock for the tag. It has been embellished and stamped using the stamp set from the Manhattan Style watch called Fifth Avenue Floral. It is stamped using Regal Rose classic ink and journaling was done with a Chocolate Chip marker. The photo has been embesllished using the Fashion Districts rub ons. The ribbon is the double stitched baha breeze grosgrain ribbon. I think it is very simple and yet so elegant. Remember, for this month you can get FREE Designer paper like the one used here...buy 3 and get 1 FREE.

A Par-Fect card

This cute "manly-man" card was made using a set from the mini catalog called "And Many Mower." It is a great set for the men in your life with 4 different pictures for different occasions. If you are like me, many of the time you are stumped for ideas for masculine cards. This one fits the tee! The image was stamped using Stazon ink on watercolor paper and then colored using classic ink pads and the Aqua Painter. The designer paper is from the Manchester. The card is Mellow Moss and the ribbon is Old Olive. It also features the new corduroy Baja Breeze button. For the golfer in your life, this card is par-fect!

Dry Embossing Technique

In this technique you can add that little flair to all your projects by
embossing on your cardstock. All you need i a light board, a metal
embossing plate and a stylus. Lightly secure your embossing llate to the light board with tape. Then after running wax paper on your cardstock, use your stylus to add dimension to your card.

When dry embossing a large open area, press only around the edges of the template, not the entire open area.
If a colored raised image is desired, replace the brass template on the raised side of the card stock. It will act as a mask to protect the un-raised surfaces. Apply color from ink pads or Stampin' Pastels using a small sponge or sponge dauber.

Garden Greetings

This beauty was also made by Vivian. Click on her name to get to her blog. The cardstock she used was Cameo Coral, Tempting Turquoise, and Whisper White. This stamp set is called Garden Greetings and it is one of the ones that caught my eye the first time I looked through the new catalog. At only 21.95 it is a great value because it has 8 stamps and 4 of them are words...friends, birthday wishes, thank you and get well soon. How versatile is that?

I wanted to post it before I send it out as a thank you for a nursery that donated a lot of plants to our community outreach day. Have a great day!

Friends 24-7

This card was made by my blog designer, Vivian. If you are a part of her team (adopted or in her downline) then she makes cards and sends them out every month to her players. I am an adopted orphan as my upline is no longer with Stampin' Up! I edited her card a bit and made the bird look more the proverbial "blue bird of happiness." The card is Riding Hood Red and the other colors used are Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery and Whipser White. It looks like she made the tree limb look like a dogwood tree which had been in full bloom here a few weeks ago. Enjoy!

emotional kind! What a legacy we can leave for our loved
ones especially with all the beautiful products that are at our
disposal now with Stampin' Up! So, what are you waiting for?

One of a Kind

This card was made with the set One of a Kind and was actually one of the cards we made last year in one of my Stamp-A-Stacks. The card is Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Close to Cocoa and Rose Red. I also used the large and small oval punches and a piece of the 5/8 " grograin ribbon. It would make a great card for any occasion or you could change up the colors and make it more masculine. Don't forget to check my website for a schedule of upcoming classes and events. In fact, I have one tomorrow!
