Mini Happy Birthday Card

I found this little card in an old Stampin' Success and decided to make one for myself. A person just cannot have too many card enclosures, especially ones that work for a man! This one fits the bill nicely. This is a little 3x3 card.

Supplies Used:
Pretty Postage set
Island Indigo, So Saffron, Whisper White card stock, Rich Regals DSP stack
Cherry Cobbler, Island Indigo, So Saffron markers
Dimensionals, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Punch
1" and 1 1/4" circle punches

Birthday Card #5

What a great way to use up some scraps! Why not punch a lot of circles and paste them into a birthday card. That is what I did for this little cutie. I think I got this idea from Mary Brown. She is sooo talented and I am so grateful that I don't have to reinvent the wheel for every card I make! P.S. Today is my actual birthday!

Stamping 411 Challenge 270

I guess I have really gotten into these challenges. As I have said before, they get my creative juices flowing. Without a challenge I can just sit and sit and not have anything. With these, I have a spring board for inspiration! So today I am playing with the Stamping 411 gang. It is a sketch as you can see so I loosely followed their sketch for this card.

Birthday Card #4

This is a very pretty card where I remember who I cased for it...Mike Funke. I made a tiny change and used a bee instead of his butterfly but the rest is the same. It is so nice that I also made one of these into a sympathy card.

Nacho Average Challenge #9

Another fun challenge on the Nacho Average Challenge blog and since Halloween is the next "major" holiday (after my birthday this week) I decided to play with some of my Halloween goodies. I was looking on my shelf and found that I had already bought and put together Toxic Treats but I had already forgotten about it and had never used it. I quickly put together this card for the challenge. Not too scary!

Birthday Card # 3

This is a triple-stamped card. It is kind of a revival of an older technique. It was fun and easy but I used 3 different sets to get this look. I think this card could go for anyone!

Paper Players Sketch #110

Just couldn't help playing along with the paper players.  I know, it is 2 posts in a day! That's what happens when you are blogged ahead and play with challenges. I have to just post more than once. Today when I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to do Halloween. I know it is 2 months away but if stores can do then I can too! I have posted some Christmas too, so I am either very strange or I am thinking ahead. I used a mixture or retired and current DSP for this card with the new Googly Ghouls stamp set. Enjoy!

I added dimensionals between all the layers of the Frankie and this photo shows that best.

Birthday Cards #2

This fits the bill for a masculine card. They are always the hardest ones to come up with for me. This one is tone on tone for the card with a little hatching on the side done with the black stampin' write marker. I used You're Amazing for the stamp set with the colors of Basic Gray, Midnight Muse and Gumball Green.

Birthday Cards #1

This is my birthday week and I am showing Birthday cards all week. I just had my annual Birthday Card stamp-a-stack and I will be showing these cards all week. If you couldn't make it, I have a "recipe" for all the cards available for $3 with sized and photos of the cards and card stock. Just leave me a comment with your info and I will get in touch with you! Now, these cards may not be original to me so if I have CASE'd one of your cards, please let me know so I can give you your credit. The first card I am showing is an Elmo card for the little ones. Who doesn't like Elmo?

Stamper's Club 25

This is the card that we made at my recent Stamper's Club. I was inspired by Cristena for this one. I had not played with this stamp set in a while and pulled it out and used some of the DSP from Comfort Cafe for the accent. I love the newsprint paper called First Edition. You get 24 sheets in this pack and it is perfect for so many layouts.

CCMC - 215

This is a very fun sketch. For some reason when I saw it I wanted to do vintage. I pulled out some vintage stamps and had a piece of Very Vanilla laying on my workspace/mess. I had just done a card usingVanilla, Crumb Cake and Baja Breeze and I wanted to do another. These colors just remind me of the old broad cloth colors and give things a muted feel. I also have the new stamp set Postage Due and paired it with Nature Walk (haven't used that one in quite a while). Here is what I got.

The Paper Players Challenge

Ok, so I took the card I made this week for Connie and Mary's challenge and redid it to meet the conditions for the Paper Players. You know I cannot resist a clean and simple challenge! I took the flowers and stamped them on DSP and cut them and added them to the card I  showed a few days ago.

Craft Project Central - Creating Pretty Cards #14

This challenge at Craft Project Central goes for a month and I am playing again this week. I got a new stamp set called Postage Due and I really like the vintage look and feel of it so I made it into a card for the challenge. As you can see I turned the challenge and used squares instead of circles.

Nacho Average Challenge - #8

WooHoo! Well, I won the Nacho Average Challenge #7 last week. If you missed it see it here. So, I am playing again. I love the challenges for getting the juices flowing. I love, love, love these colors. I am all about summer and bright colors so I had to play along with this one. I used Bright Blossoms and some of the matching DSP. See the challenge and the other entries here.

Praying for You

I guess while I had the Everything Eleanor set out I might as well make another card with it so I made a basic White and Cherry Cobbler card. I used my newly found scoring tool to make the vellum piece. I tied a double bow and stuck it on with the hat pin.

Create with Connie and Mary - 214

This week is a color challenge as you can plainly see. I made a quick card using these colors and the idea for the card came directly from Mike Funke. He really does some great work. Check him out sometime! Anyway, I used the new set called Pleasant Poppies. I have seen so many samples with this set that I had to add it to my stash. I used the First Edition DSP for the background and colored in my flowers using the colors above. I added the little bee for my own personal touch.

Go Confidently

Well, the picture is really wierd. I don't know if you can tell it but it was done with Bashful Blue. I guess the ribbon is tricking the camera. I shot this card 5 times and this was the best. I used the Big Shot of course to make a shaped card and cut other pieces to fit over the Whisper White card. I stamped the flower from the Everything Eleanor set on top of the Bashful Blue subtles stack.

This page was from the May issue of Stampin' Success.
I have not shown a scrap book page in quite a while and so I borrowed this one from Stampin' Up! I really like the vintage style of it.

Happiest Birthday

I wanted to do a very simple yet pretty birthday card. I was working on my birthday class when I came up with this one. Don't know if it will make the cut yet as it is still July when I made it but I decided to post it anyway. I used the dark piece from Twitterpated. No coloring on this card just simple stamping. Can't remember who I might have cased for the layout, if it is you, please let me know so I can give you the credit.

Playing with the Paper Players

I just came in from doing yard work and while cooling down I decided to play at the last minute with this color challenge from The Paper Players. Actually, I had totally ignored it until the last minute when they sent an "not too late" email. So, I pulled out an old card and quickly did a Christmas tag so I guess I am submitting 2 entries in one post! I guess thinking of Christmas is one way to cool off!

Post It Notes for School

Our school mascot is a dolphin and each year the theme is something to do with the sea. No, we are no where near the water...Marietta, GA. Anyway, this year it is "Dive into Learning." Last year was my first year at this school and the reception has been overwhelmingly poor! So, I made up a few gifts for the office staff. Who cannot use more post-it's? I quickly stamped every page with the starfish (saw a lot of those in Cabo in July) and printed the saying from the computer. Hopefully, they will stop asking me if I need help every time I walk into the school!

Nacho Average Challenge #7

Well, I missed posting the Nacho Average Challenge for yesterday because I did not realize it closed already. So, this time I am posting early. In fact, I am doing a 2nd post for today. "Get 'er done!" So, I looked at the sketch and then I looked at the design teams samples and thought, Wow! They used up all the good ones. So, I had to drop back and punt. Well, in my opinion, one can never go wrong with butterflies so that is what I used.I used lots of bright colors and just so you know, my card is not crooked, it is my photo!

Nacho Average Challenge #6

I found a new challenge to play with today. The name is so catchy, I love it...Nacho Average Challenge. So, it is a color challenge and the colors are Rich Razzleberry, Night of Navy and Lucky Limeade. I decided to make a bookmark using those colors but I cheated and added a bright yellow (Daffodil Delight) butterfly to my creation. Since I did not have a book at my fingertips, I bookmarked the stamp set I used...Creative Elements.

Pencil Tutorial

Finished Pencil
If you saw my blog here you may have asked "How did she make that?" Well, I promised a tutorial and so I had to make a few for school and now here is the low-down on how I made it. I actually made that pencil in 2010 and re-blogged it so I had to completely start over for this tutorial.

Start with  More Mustard 5 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Add a strip of Riding Hood Red 3 1/2 x 3/8"
Next add 1/4" ribbon or silver card stock

Now score long ways at the 1/4" mark across pencil
Add red sticky tape to one side on the back side, roll up using candy to measure the right width.
Add about 9-11 candies to pencil with sharp point on the end. Color with Sharpie if desired.
Now, make as many as desired. Let me know if this doesn't make sense!

Imagine the Possiblities

I think that butterflies are so pretty and I  love the new butterfly punch. However, I do not have the matching stamp set yet so I used some scraps of DSP new and retired and punched out a plenty number of butterflies. This was a quick card and it is hard to go wrong with pretty bugs!

CCMC213 - Sketch Challenge

I am once again playing with Connie and Mary. When you go to their site you also get to see what the team has made and can get lots of ideas from those talented team members. Their sketches/color challenges come out every Thursday and you have until the next Wednesday at noon to play along. Why not play? It really gets my juices flowing and maybe yours too! So this week is a sketch. Here is the sketch.

Now here is my card. I am sort of still in a Christmas/holiday mood. Lots of birthdays and such this month in my family (8 in all) and so that keeps my spirits up! However, I did Christmas and not birthday. I used Cherry Cobbler, Early Expresso, and the Be of Good Cheer DSP. The card itself is Very Vanilla although it barely shows. I also pulled out some of the really old Liquid Applique to make the puffy snowballs.
