One more Fall Card

While I had the Gently Falling stamp set out I made one more fall card. As you know, Christmas is upon us and I will be focusing on the winter season soon! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and that you never forget to give thanks to the one who made us all!

Falling for Thanksgiving

I recently saw a card similar to this one on Pintrest and knew I could make it mine for Thanksgiving. I love this set called Gently Falling. It has the prettiest leaves and right now the leaves are pretty and falling fast. Today was a day where the wind was blowing and the leaves just swirled down to the ground. Now, that is beautiful.

Technique Tuesday - Scratch and Sniff

SCRATCH & SNIFF

Directions:
1) Mix 1 part sugar-free drink mix to 1-1/2 parts Clear Stampin' Emboss powder.

2) Stamp your bold image on card stock with a color that coordinates with your embossing powder mix.

3) Using a Stamp-a-ma-jig, stamp your image a second time in VersaMark ink.

4) Pour embossing powder mix over image and heat emboss.

Tips:

  • If you only want to emboss a portion of your image, use a VersaMarker to ink the desired section of your stamp for step 3.
  • You can use Craft ink for step 2 and skip step 3.
  • Your drink mix should be sugar-free because heated sugar crisps and browns.

Lovely as a Tree Meets Color Blocking

Wow! I have not used this set in quite a while. It is still a customer favorite and has been in the catalog for 11+ years. For this card I did a sort of color blocking. I blocked out sections using post-it notes and then used sponges to color in the sections. Next, I stamped the trees on top of the colors. Add a sentiment and you are done!

    Wonderfall

I am currently trying to get all my blogs up to date for the holidays. As you may remember, I think the holidays are for celebrating and NOT for stressing. One of the things I can control is my blog. I can post ahead and not have to worry about getting something done! This card was made using Wonderfall. Inks used were: Night of Navy, Crushed Curry, Gumball Green and Cajun Craze.

    Thanksgiving Place Settings

Well, the holiday is nearly here! Don't you love Thanksgiving? Did you know that it is the most traveled holiday each year? I really love it because this year will be my 3rd Thanksgiving cruise with my dear hubby. We have had sooo much on our plate this year that we/he really needs this get-a-way.

But, that did not stop me from planning place settings for the table. I made these quickies for my daughter and her new husband.

    Beautiful Fall Card

I made this fall card with my stamper's club this week. I got the tutorial for the card from Patty Bennett's website last year and had bookmarked it. You can see her video here. My card uses DSP from the beautiful Venetian Romance. The card is Cajun Craze and I scrunched, inked and misted the leaves.

    A Fall Birthday Card

I made this quick little fall birthday card with my son in mind. His birthday is not in the fall but when he was a teen he made a picture of what he was looking for in a wife...She was a single blossom in a field of blah. This card reminded me of that image.

    Candy Corn Kits

Did you see these darling little kits in the Holiday Mini? I put these together with my Stamper's in September and just got around to posting them. They turned out really cute AND they come in a Christmas set too. How fun for little treats for friends, co-workers etc.. I am getting my Christmas kits tomorrow!

Technique Tuesday - Rock and Roll

    ROCK & ROLL

    Directions:
    1) Tap stamp on light-colored ink pad.

    2) Press edges of stamp in a rolling motion on darker ink pad, being careful not to ink the center of the stamp.

    3) Stamp your image.

    Tips:

  • Always use the lightest colored ink first to avoid getting dark ink on your light ink pad.
  • This technique works best when using a bold stamp image.

    Another Thanksgiving Treat

Want to hear something funny? I did not think I would use this stamp set at all! Now I have used it multiple times just for Thanksgiving. It is pretty and I love that it has a matching punch so there is no fussy cutting. This project uses the recently retired 2 tags die cut. I made mine hold a little candy bar...you have to do something with all that leftover Halloween candy, right?

    'Black Tie' Christmas

Obviously, these are not your traditional Christmas colors (unless you live in a black & white world). So, I was stumped for a short while. I woke up very early this am, if you call 4 early and it hit me, why not CASE a Mary Brown card using Black and Silver so that is what I did. I used my Snowflake Soiree stamps and pulled off this beautiful card.

    My 1st Mini Muslin Bag

I have just opened my muslin bags to play with them I used some old craft ink on mine but others I have seen are using acrylic paints. The paints do make a more vibrant image so I may have to get me some paint!

    Happy Christmas

    CCMC277
    The Sketch

My card is very simple and as you can see I did the square card. It will still fit in a standard envelope OR you could make a really cute one using your envelope maker. I used Gumball Green for the ornament and even though it does not show well in the pic, I used Dazzling Diamonds on the ornament. On a personal note, I just got my FREE "take ten" magazine and I was published twice int his issue.

    Mosaic Madness for Christmas

I opened my computer and again I was pleased with the simple sketch at Technostamper's blog. She does a Monday challenge every week and I don't know why more don't play along. This one is super simple. I used some of my Season of Style paper stack with Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White. First the sketch...

    Now for my card!

    A Color Challenge...PPA179

    PPA179

Pretty fall colors and I made a CAS card for these colors. I used the color-blocking technique to keep it CAS.

    Festive Flurry

Today is a sketch I am playing with at Create with Connie and Mary.  I just got the Festive Flurry so I had to use it for this card. It is such a pretty set, not sure why I waited to get it! My colors for this challenge are: Pool Party, Whisper White and Basic Gray with a touch of Silver glitter paper.

    Live Simply

As we look forward to the holidays and all the hustle and bustle of it all, I want to take the time to remind myself and others that it is NOT about all the hustle and bustle. We need to: Live Simply, Love Geneously, Care Deeply, Speak Kindly and Leave the rest to God. I love that quote and like to use it. I thought it would work well for this very simple Dynamic Duo "subtly yours"color sketch.

    Now for my card -

    Technique Tuesday - Pocket Treat

I had made one of these pockets last year for Halloween and it somehow landed on my desk this week so I looked at it and made one for Thanksgiving. You can hang it on a door knob or a chair and give someone a little pick-me-up or let them know that you are thankful that they are in your life. I have filled my pocket with a Dove Bar. MMM!

I cut my DSP 10x4 and scored at the 5" mark and at 1/2" on both ends. I then folded it and folded down the tops. I punched the top for the ribbons with the 1/2" circle punch. Then I trimmed the bottom at an angle and used my Tombow glue to hold the whole thing shut on the edges. Clear as mud??

    Heartfelt...Really

This is the first time I have inked up this rubber! It is so pretty I don't know what I have been waiting for. But, it is Thanksgiving season so it is perfect for a Heartfelt Greeting. I made this card to play with the PPA177 challenge. It is a color challenge, Crisp Cantaloupe, Early Expresso and Summer Starfruit.

    Another Fall Leaf

Well, the colors are winding down this week and the leaves are hanging on for dear life here in Marietta, GA. I worked a couple of hours in the yard yesterday clearing the leaves and making a first run of the falling leaves. I know I will have to clear them 2 more times before it is over. But, working in the yard is one of my passions so I don't mind it. As I saw the challenge colors on the Paper Players I knew I would make another fall leaf. Oh, how I despise the winter and leafless trees!

    One Card - 2 Challenges, Santa's List

I am playing with a sketch and a color challenge today. I pulled the colors from scraps and voila, I had the red strip, the Cabana frame and a piece of the slate. I laid them down and went away and came back a day or 2 later and put this card together. I really love, love, love this Santa image!

    Thanksgiving Boxes

These cute little boxes could be used as table settings by using names where the sentiment is on the top. Mine are filled with little candies but you could fill it with other things...ie, cash, good thoughts, a note for listing things you are thankful for...I posted the link to the tutorial here.

    Santa's List

What a fun challenge sketch at Technostamper's Blog today. I just had to play along and I thought it was perfect for my big Santa! I used 'leftovers' on my desk for this card so it was quick!

    Zoo Babies

I just got this set when it went 25% off a couple of weeks ago. I needed a new baby stamp set and this one is fun! All the little animals bring to mind the zoo. I went to the Atlanta Zoo in May and it was fun. I had not been there in years and I got to go on a field trip. So, I made this card for a baby gift and also it matches the challenge at The Paper Players this week. I think I am going to make up a couple more of these sweet cards for boys and girls and a yellow one for the occasional mom that does not know what sex her baby is.

    Lovely as a Tree

Now this set is a definite 'throw-back' but it is still current and still a favorite of so many stampers. I love the trees and all the images and this set is so versatile! I made this quick card for the challenge at Creating Pretty Cards. Any one can play along. Just click on the link and try your hand. If they get at least 10 cards someone will win a month's worth of tutorials!

    Snowflake Soiree

Today I am playing with 2 sketches...Dynamic Duo's and Freshly Made Sketches. One is a color challenge, Real Red and Bermuda Bay while the other is a card sketch. It was fun to make Bermuda snowflakes! It made for a CAS card.

    Technique Tuesday, POCKET POUCH

tHIS IS SUCH A CUTE AND QUICK LITTLE POUCH. i HAVE MADE THESE SEVERAL TIMES TO HOLD COOKIES OR CANDY. tHEY ARE A SWEET WAY TO PRESENT A DELICIOUS HOMEMADE COOKIE WITHOUT LOOKING 'CHEAP.'

    POCKET POUCH

    Directions:

    2) Hold the now-triangle piece of card stock so that the fold is at the bottom.

    3) Take one layer of the top point and fold it down until the point touches near the bottom of the triangle.

    4) Unfold.

    6) Fold the left point over in a similar fashion.

    7) Fold top point back down and adhere.

    8) Embellish pouch as desired.
