Nacho Average Challenge #47
This is the challenge for the week with the NAC.
It was easy, peasy for me this week. I saw a card I had used the pinwheels on and decided to use those for the focal points on the circles! A fun, bright birthday card.

Technique Tuesday – Piercing Pattern
Technique Tuesday – Piercing Pattern

2. Rotate your paper 180 degrees and line up the scallop on the template with the pierced scallop on your paper. Pierce the scallop to complete the circles.

3. Line up the pierced holes with the template as shown above and pierce the scallop to start the next row of circles. Rotate your paper 180 degrees again and line up the template as shown in step 2. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you’ve filled the entire piece of cardstock with pierced circles.

4. Your cardstock should look like this when you’re done. Erase your pencil line and attach it to a card base; embellish your project as desired.

TECHNIQUE TUESDAY – PIERCING PATTERN
Are you a fan of our paper-piercing tools? I know I am. I love that the templates are a quick and accurate way to add a bit of pattern and texture, and that they are designed to coordinate with so many of our punches and Framelits Dies.
The Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack has all of the basics. I used the template with the straight lines and the scallops to make my project, but I didn’t want just straight lines or scallops. I wanted the background of my card to be circles.

I could have used the template with the circles on it, but that would have been tedious and a bit more difficult getting the same circle lined up over and over again. Instead, I used the biggest scallop to make my circles.
Here’s how I did it:

- Draw a line down the center of your cardstock with a pencil, then line up the holes at the tips of the scallop along the line and pierce the scallop.

Have you created any other patterns with the piercing templates? Share a link to your projects. I’d love to see what you’ve been creating!

CCMC252 - Color Challenge
As you can see the challenge for this week with Connie and Mary is a color challenge. I was stumped at first then I got my new catalog and started sorting my stamp sets and forgot to pull Artistic Etching (sniff, sniff). Well, not to miss a chance to use such a fun stamp set I set about using these colors to make a vintage looking card. Click here to see the challenge and all the cards the creative team and others have made.

Ooh, a color challenge and I am using the sketch from the CCMC 251 challenge to make this card. How fun is that? I love these bright colors, they just speak to my heart. Spring is here and I like to dress the part. The DSP is from SAB this year. Click here to get more ideas.

SUO Challenge 70 – Butterflies Are So Much Fun!
Ok, the challenge for this blog is to make anything using butterflies. What a great challenge and the butterflies are flitting around here in May in Atlanta so inspiration is all around. This is a card I made with my stamper's club and I added the little butterflies to make it fit the challenge and to be more fun! The background is sponged to make it a very light colored Pool Party sky. See all the other cards here.

Nature Walk 'Exits the Scene' for Mojo Monday
Now for my version. I played rather loosely with this sketch and used a retiring set that I will miss. I love the classic look of the bird from Nature Walk. Although this card is busy, I really like how it turned out. I used Early Expresso, Baja Breeze, Sahara Sand and Very Vanilla for this card. Good bye to the stamp set as well as Baja Breeze and Sahara Sand. BTW, this card also works for the MOJO Monday challenge this week. One bird...2 stones. Enjoy!
Oops, I forgot to post to CCMC...better luck with Mojo Monday!

Technique Tuesday - Rose Buds from Splitcoast
Rose Bud
by Marie Carlsson
Create a rose bud out of a few punch out flowers.
Supplies

- 3 die cut, or punched flowers
- Barbecue pin
- Tweezers
- Scissors
- Draped wire
- Soft green paper (small square, hand cut a star)
- Adhesive
Step-by-Step
Step 1
Bend each petal of your first flower.
Step 2
Cut out the middle of each flower.
Step 3
Add glue to the petal next to the cut.
Step 4
Place the wire at one edge of the first petal and wrap the paper around it tight, then add glue on the half of the other petal. Place seam in the middle of next petal … and so on until all the petals are mounted around the wire.
Step 5
If you want a small rosebud, you stop here and don’t add anymore layer… and jump to step 8.
Step 6
Add glue on the half of the all the petals of the next flower.
Step 7
Here are two layers added… stop here if you like a middle sized rosebud, if you want a big rosebud add a third layer.
Step 8
Cut from corner to corner a V on the small square, the end result should look like this, that they are uneven doesn’t do anything, they look more natural if they are uneven. Add glue all over and bull it up and over the bud.
Step 9
Here are the roses with one, two and three layers.
Step 10
Finally, use a tweezers to bend the petals, to create more life to the rosebud.
- Work your way in to the middle.

Step 11
Your rose bud flowers are finished.
