Happy Halloween

Boo!
Ok, this is going to be my last Halloween post for this year. This is a little bag/box I made using my Fancy Favor die and the Big Shot. Seriously, it is a must have. I am seeing wedding favors, shower favors, little goody bags for every occasion. Today I used the Frightful Sight dsp with the cats on it. Then I punched a hole and added the clear film for a peek-a-boo. I stamped the kitty from Batty for You and added candy corn in a little cello bag tied it closed and I am ready to give another gift. I guess I am going to have to put away the Halloween stamps for a while...sniff, sniff!

I have the grandchildren coming over tonight for Halloween supper and then a little Trick-or-Treating. It is going to be fun! I can hardly wait. I don't get too many kids at my house because I am at the end of the cul-de-sac next to the pool and tennis courts (I like to pretend they are mine) and the kids don't feel its worth it to come all the way down for 1 or 2 houses. However, I have 7 bags of candy if any one is interested!

A Halloween Banner

I couldn't resist buying this little goody for only $4! I made it on the 25th and hung it and then took pics and decided to post it on Halloween. It is really cool and sparkly! I know it is not all SU! but the idea could easily be changed and made using SU! products. Of course there are a lot more hangies but I didn't want to bore you all. There are actually 13 pieces counting the center one and the really cool thing is that I did not have to glue them on, they are just clipped on and can be changed around!

Shelli's Bat from the Charlotte regional

Now I had good intentions to rush home and make one or 2 of these but alas with school having already started and my very crazy schedule I didn't ever get around to it. But, I just wanted to share it with you anyway. Hey, there is always next year, right? She put this together on stage. Isn't it darling? She made one for all of her grandchildren.

Holiday Gift Givers for CCMC 173

This is the challenge for this week. At first I was stumped...then I thought about the double embossing and an idea just came to me. I used these 3 colors plus a neutral called Confetti White.  I cut varying sized circles and then embossed the front piece so the dots went up and down. Next I stamped the image from the Gift Givers set and punched and water colored the little girl. I layered her with multiple layers and finally popped her up. The Rich Razzleberry ribbon is retired but I wanted to show the dots as it goes with my theme.

Gift Givers And Batty Bookmark

Ok, another case, this time from Mary Brown. I changed the colors and dsp and ribbon but the sketch is all hers. I made my own dsp using My Digital Studio. I am starting to enjoy it and imagine all the things I will be able to do with once I really figure it out. I want to learn to make recipe cards with it! Anyway, just another great little Halloween card.

I also quickly made this little bookmark. I got my inspiration from a Tim Holtz project I saw online but made mine SU! only.

Mummy, I'm Home...Boo!

I saw this cute little card on the front of Paper Crafts magazine and decided to use up some of my retired twill tape to make one like it! I love the costumes and fun of dressing up to be anyone you want to be for that one day of the year! Who wouldn't want to be Cleopatra or a mummy? Anything for FREE candy!

Technique - "P" Project

If you haven't tried this technique, well, what are you waiting for? It is very simple and oh so striking. You can do it with only versamark and pastels. The bolder the images, the more color you can use.

You can't see the dark image but it looks good in real life!

Batty for You

I was looking for more Halloween projects and this paper made me think of the Batty for You set with the creepy crawly spider. Speaking of spiders, I have been seeing so many of them this fall and lots of them are moving in with me in my basement. Let me tell you, they can be very creepy!

Bats Alive!

This card literally took me about 5 minutes to make! I realized that I had the spider web embossing folder and had not used it yet so I made this little quickie card.

Week 5 Challenge with Connie and Mary Holiday Edition

Having just driven 865 miles to drop my husband off for a 2 week sabbatical hiking trip on the Appalachian Trail and seeing the leaves in their many stages of color...pre-peak, peak and post peak, I knew I wanted to make a card using the foliage colors. This challenge fit the bill and so it took me no time at all to come up with this one.

The card base is Soft Suede and the Very Vanilla is stamped using French Foliage using More Mustard, Riding Hood Red, Garden Green and Soft Suede. The DSP is called Well Worn and the leaf was hand cut using Riding Hood Red and distressing. The little turkey (on the card, not my husband) is from the Gift Givers set and water colored. The ribbon is the quilted satin in Early Expresso from the current mini catalog.

P.S. It is only 2 months until Christmas and only 1 month until Thanksgiving! How is it going with your cards and gifts?

A Batty Project

I saw something like this at the Charlotte regional and just now have gotten around to making it. This is a little candy gift made using the Big Shot and some DSP. I also used the Bat Punch that is available on the Clearance Rack at my website (at least is was still available when I checked). It is a retired punch and selling for only 6.99 now. Get it while it lasts! I made these little candy bites for my co-workers. Sorry the pictures are so blurry. Lots of rain and rain and rain when I took the photos.

Dark and Dreary

A few weeks back I saw this sketch and on blog and so I had to copy it. Hey, I changed a few things so it is not an exact copy. I love the little bow with the sparkly brad. It just sets it all off! I used Dark and Dreary for the owl and Howl-o-ween Creeps for the sentiment. The ribbon is retired but it went so well, so I used it.

A Not So Spooky Owl Treat

How about this cute little owl? This is the from the Fancy Favor die for the Big Shot. I can't believe this is the first time I have used it. I don't know what I have been waiting for...maybe a special invitation? Anyway, I saw this owl made by Sarah Miller and wanted to try one for myself. I think he turned out so cute and I can see him being filled with candy for the neighbor kids next door.

Technique - "O" Projects

Remember, the O is for Ode to Punches. Here are a few projects I have made using punches. Enjoy! And one more, the Thomas the Tank card I made for a cute kid I know and love!

Technique - O is for Ode to Punches

Another fun tutorial. There are so many fun things that can be made with punches and a little imagination!

Another "Creep" Project

Yes, I used the Howl-o-ween Creeps set again. Halloween is such a fun holiday and it is actually the 2nd most money making holiday in the United States. Of course, Christmas is #1.

Week 4 Create with Connie and Mary Holiday Edition Challenge

Wow! It is week 4 already and so many great ideas still to come. I am loving all their ideas for the holidays! The challenge this week is another color throw down. The project does not have to be Christmas but...these colors do 'holler' Christmas! Now, it doesn't look like it, but the ornaments are real red.

Halloween Luminary Tutorial

Today is the promised tutorial for the Halloween Luminaries I showed yesterday. Are you ready?
Start with 2 6 x 6 pieces of double sided paper

Score the top 1" and score other 3 sides at 1 1/2 "
If you are going to make an opening, punch now before you move on. I folded the bottom to get the hole centered. It will cut one of the bottom tabs but it will not show or hurt the integrity.
This blurry picture shows how that on one piece you just cut the tabs, but do not cut them off!  Now is the time to add the transparent sheet for the window.

On the 2nd piece cut out the tabs like so.

Fold on all lines and flip showing side out. Now assemble as shown.

Voila, a cute little Halloween luminary. I had fun with this and know you will too!

Howl-o-ween Creeps

I made this card as a case from the mini catalog. This was fun to make and I got to again use my MDS. I downloaded and printed the striped paper with my MDS. I am having more and more fun using it. I also got to watercolor the stamps. Fun!

2 Posts in 1 Day!

It must be a Saturday and it must be that my hubby is out of town at the men's retreat because I had time to go to my favorite craft stores and haunt the aisles for ideas. I was at one this am and saw this 'Martha S' make-n-take. Now, I have been to this store several times and the lines for make-n-takes were always too long for me. Today, no one was waiting! I made this cute little luminary and then I couldn't wait to come home and make it using SU! stuff. The first one was the store one and the 2nd one is SU! Yes, I used retired papers but I just wanted to see if I could do it again! Come back tomorrow to see it done with Frightful Sight and I will also "spell out" the tutorial so you can make one too!

CCMC171 - Color Challenge

I am again trying a Create with Connie and Mary sketch. This is one that anyone can play with, yes, even you. The only requirement is that everything has to be Stampin' Up! So feel free to jump in and play. The more the merrier. This week was a color sketch as you can see and the colors were a bit of a challenge for me. Whenever that happens I have to go to my stash of Designer Papers. I found one that had all three colors in it and made a pretty card using it.
A Beautiful Card, huh? Now jump over and see what others have done with this sketch.

Halloween Kitty Page

When I saw this posted on Stampin' Up! I just had to post it. It made me think about my daughter and her kitty costumes. She was a kitty at least 6 times and the last time she was The Cat in the Hat. Now she owns a dog, go figure!

Nice Smell - Projects

These cards were so fun to make and delicious to smell. They brought a smile to everyone's face! Who doesn't smile at the thought and smell of a childhood memory like Kool-Aid!

Holiday One Time Only Card

This card was another one I played with for the "special" card challenge with Connie and Mary. It is not so much that this card was hard to make but I had to stamp over the Poppy Parade image with versamark and then emboss the whole thing. The paper kept wanting to buckle, the knots did not want to cooperate and I couldn't get my sentiment straight after multiple tries! Oh well, this is it and I am going with it.

Technique - N is for Nice Smell

This is a fun and great smelling technique! Try it today.

Week 3 - Special Card Challenge

Connie and Mary and the team had so much fun coming up ideas for the Card Keeper that did NOT include cards, that now the team needed to actually make some cards to put in there!  So since they had to make some cards we thought of a special card challenge for this week.  The theme is...
MAKE A ONE OF KIND, SPECIAL CHRISTMAS CARD!!!
You know...that kind of a card that after you are done you look at it and go WOW and then say BUT I'm NOT making ANOTHER!!!  LOL!!!  It's that very special card you are going to give to someone special!

So, that was the challenge for this week and I am always up for a good challenge. Well, my style is clean and simple so this is kind of a CAS one of a kind card. You may not be able to see it in the photo but there is glitter on all the ornaments.

A Witches Hat

This week with my Club 25 we made this fun and oh so cute Witches Hat. With the green and black it kind of reminded me of the show 'Wicked.' What a fun show and what a fun project. Everyone was in love with these little babies. It also holds a piece of chocolate behind the hat. Yummy for the tummy! This was quickly made using the Big Shot with the petal cone die and the scalloped circle die.
