Simple Wedding Favors

As I posted about a week ago, I have a wedding to do and I only had 3 1/2 weeks to plan it. I posted the simple invitation last week and got them in the mail on Monday. Then I began making the little York Peppermint Patties for their favor. I printed their names and the date matching the chocolate chip in the paper that the bridesmaids are wearing. I used old and new DSP for the scallop punch and made about 125 of these mints all week long. I now have my basketful and wanted to post one for you all to see. 13 days to go, I have 2 more dresses to alter, punch, cakes and cheese straws to get made. I also have to find servers and plan the rehearsal dinner/dessert. I have a budget of nothing and I have spent maybe $220 so far. The brides mom is a single mother and was left with nothing but bills when her husband died of a sudden heart attack at age 43. I have a friend doing the flowers and we are using the church building where we worship. My husband is performing the ceremony. Now what am I missing??

Technique Tuesday!

This week my friends and I are getting together and we are doing an "Ode to Punches!" The technique letter is O and I really wanted to do something with punches. So I am making the turkey punch from the Stampin' Success and also using the Punch Art Christmas Tags that was a winner on Stampin' Up's! challenge this month done by Mercedes Weber. These tags are so much fun to make so if you haven't played with them yet, get on over here and punch like crazy. Here is our punch 6x6 page we will be making on Tuesday.

Holiday Extravaganza Project 1

I had my Holiday Extravaganza workshop yesterday. We made 6 projects suitable for gifting. One project we did was make a little bag of Christmas magnets using the Deer Friends set. This set is a level 2 hostess set in the catalog and has been so much fun to play with! These magnets are a snap to make and would make a great project for a workshop anytime. I used riding hood red for Santa, garden green for the tree, chocolate chip for the gingerbread boy and basic black for the snowman. All the cardstock was whisper white. I used the 1" punch to cut the picture and used crystal effects to glue the cardstock to the clear glass marble. Then we packaged them using the smallest cello bags and the Big Shot Bigz Top Note. The color was riding hood red, then a piece of the 5/8" old very vanilla ribbon, followed by the large kiwi kiss oval punch and the Merry Christmas dear friend stamp from the Cute and Curly punch set. I think the packaging make them perfect for little gifts!

Autumn Harvset

It really feels like fall around here today. The wind is blowing in cold air from the north and all the leaves are falling. I guess it is about time for it, but I sure do love summer better!

Anyway, I made this great card for a recent party I did. I uses pumpkin pie cardstock and garden green cardstock. I also used piece of DSP. The stamp set is from the Fall-Winter catalog and is called Autumn Harvest. (I used this same set for the wedding invites you can see in an earlier post). This time I featured the large pumpkin and the leaf. I colored it using the watercolor pencils and the blender pen. The "seed packet" I downloaded from a website about 3 years ago. The sentiment is from the Holidays and Hugs set. I love the way it looks so fall. I can hardly wait to send it off in the mail.

Name Frames Make Great Gifts!

Supplies Used - (* from Décor Elements Catalog) *Décor Elements Classic Letters, *Décor Elements Applicator, 12x12 piece of designer series paper Pgs 168-171 and Holiday Mini catalog, frame from Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Directions: Clean and dry glass (you are going to apply the Décor Element on top of the glass and place the designer series paper under the glass inside the frame giving your project great depth and dimension). Lay Décor Element Together Forever Vinyl on a flat surface with Grid paper (blue) side facing up. Lightly rub with Applicator. Slowly pull the blue grid paper back. If the vinyl pulls up with the grid paper, lay the grid sheet back down and rub with applicator, lift again. Turn the sticky sheet over so the vinyl is facing the glass, making sure the image doesn't stick to itself. Carefully place the image on the glass being sure to center it. After it is centered, Rub from the center out with your hand to smooth and then again with the Applicator. Pull the sticky sheet (white sheet) back until it is all removed. (NOTE: Pull BACK as shown - NOT UP) Take a sharp point of a hobby blade or piercing tool and lift the inner circle of vinyl. Remove this to leave the tiny dots. Gently rub out any bubbles
Repeat the same steps with the Monogram of your choice. Remove the backing to the picture frame and insert your favorite designer series paper inside the frame. Change it out as often as desired.

Are You Feeling "Pooped?"

Looking for a silly treat for Thanksgiving? It's Turkey Poop!
Just right for a gag gift--or even Thanksgiving Day place cards--Turkey Poop is easy to make.

Place a handful of Milk Duds-brand candy, chocolate-covered raisins, or brown jelly beans in a small zipper food storage bag or seasonal cellophane gift bag. Label with the following poem or our printable Turkey Poop gift tag.

You invited me to dinner with
your family and your friends.
You didn't say I was the main dish.
For me it was "THE END!"

You frightened me so badly
I knew I had been duped!
So I left you with my calling card:
This bag of Turkey Poop!

Simple Wedding Announcement

My son is getting married on November 29th, this year! He proposed on November 5th and so we are trying to pull off a wedding in 3 weeks. It is going to be a simple wedding, none of the expensive frills. My husband will be performing the ceremony and we are going with a fall theme. This is the sketch for the invitations. The girls chose their dresses yesterday and they are a chocolate brown. The flower girl will be dropping leaves and fall flowers. I think it will be very pretty, but simple (reminicent of the good old days). I will keep you posted. Click on the picture for an upclose look.

Another Holiday non Holiday Set Stamped Card

This card is using the new In Colors, don't you just love them! The set used is from the catalog and is one of my favorites, One of a Kind. You can see it on page 116 of the Fall-Winter catalog.

The colors I used were Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, and Pink Pirouette. We used several punches to make the wreath. This card was demonstrated to me by my new friend and fellow demonstrator, Millie. I will be sharing this card with my Technique club on Tuesday, Novemeber 18th. Isn't it a beauty?!

"UN"Holiday Stamped Card

This little card was made using the Broque Motif stamp set. I have found that this set is so versatile. I have made masculine cards, feminine cards and now a holiday card using this one set. I used Ski Slope designer paper from the mini catalog . The colors are so pretty in this paper...bashful blue, kiwi kiss, chocolate chip, tango tangerine and whisper white. These are not your usual colors but pretty none the less.

Christmas is Right Around the Corner!

With Christmas being just a few short weeks away, I am posting cards almost everyday. Maybe you will be inspired to make your cards. This card was made using the stamp set Big On Christmas. This is a fun set that makes cute cards and projects. The colors are whiper white, real red, and old olive. I used a jumbo wheel called Christmas Chatter for the background. If you have never used these wheels...they are very fun. I would love to book a party for you and teach you and your friends all about these wheels.

A Season of Thanks

Last night I made a quick and gorgeous project that I just had to share with all of you. I used one of the new Decor Elements that Stampin' Up! carries and a piece of Designer Paper (retired) because it matched my room decor so well. I put it into a shadow box frame and added a few dried leaves and gourds and voila...Beauty at a glance! I like it so much that I am sending a photo to Shelli, Stampin' Up!'s co-founder for her blog contest. Wish me luck!

Trash to Treasure

This week's challenge was to transform some trash into a treasure. Well, I had just the ticket. I used a lotion bottle from a hotel and turned it into a treat for Halloween. I used the stamp set Batty for You along with some punches and the colors I used were...pumpkin pie, always artichoke, basic black and whisper white. I also used some of the new Ghostly Greetings DSP. I hope you enjoy!

My Boo Banner

I saw this cute Halloween "Boo" banner on http://stampingtoshare.blogspot.com/2008/10/1012-boo-banner.html last week and so I tweaked it and made one for me. I just love the colors and all the fun that goes with Halloween! I used the new Big Shot SU exclusive die cut to make the flags. The colors I used were whisper white, pumpkin pie, lovely lilac and basic black. The paper was some designer papers I found down in my basement. I made the spiders using punches and googlie eyes. I used chipboard letters and numbers from Stampin' Up! of course. I colored the chipboard with my SU markers.

Pillow Box Gift

I love making things and filling them with little treats. They make great little remembrances or gifts for anyone! I put little things like this in the mailbox for my postman frequently. I also like to drop them off in boxes at school to cheer folks up or to give them a little pick-me-up. This was made using kiwi kiss, rose red, and very vanilla cardstock. I also used kiwi kiss and rose red ink. I wrapped the whole thing up with some vanilla organdy ribbon.

Life is Good!

I love this set...Text and Texture. It has great sentiments and it also matches some of Stampin' Up!'s new decor line. I made this card using colors from the bold brights family - Gable Green and Tempting Turquoise. The technique is called kissing. Basically I inked up the sentiment in gable green and the bacground texture in tempting turquoise then I "kissed" the 2 stamps together. What you see are the results. I also used the jumbo stars wheel for the base of the card. It just doesn't get any easier!
