Create with Connie and Mary - CCMC 160

Well, as you may have figured out I love playing with challenges. I think I would do them all the time if I didn't have to work, clean house, take care of grandchildren and family! Any way, today I am playing along again. I haven't played in a while because I have been too busy doing all those other things. The challenge today is a design challenge. You can see it here or at their blog. Now here is my interpretation of the challenge. I love these colors...Pacific Point, Wild Wasabi and Whisper White.

Other supplies used: Whisper White Organza ribbon, Fabulous Florets and Happy Greetings stamp sets.

My First Ribbon Rose

You know my style is CAS (clean and simple) and this card was one that I had seen and wanted to make because it is simple and elegant in its simplicity. I had to make a ribbon rose to make it and this was my first attempt at one. It turned out well enough that I figured I could share it with you all.

Supplies Used:
Very Vanilla card stock, Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, Early Expresso ink, Oval All stamp set, Very Vanilla seam binding and Pretty in Pink satin ribbon. The Certainly Celery ribbon is retired but added that certain umph!

Cracked Glass Card

Close up of the cracked piece.
I love the cracked look of this card. The more glaze you use and the longer it is frozen the better it cracks.

Technique - C is for Cracked Glass

All you need for this technique is lots of glassy glaze and versamark and a freezer.

Clearly For You

I missed another convention...There is always next year! Anyway, I have been trying to get some sneak peeks from convention boards and here is a card I tweaked from one that I saw posted somewhere.

I also wanted to show you a great way to save card stock. In today's economy we have to pinch pennies everywhere and here is an idea for your card making pennies.  See the black behind the vanilla piece? I used the middle of it to punch my scalloped oval. See the photo's here.

Supplies used:   Clearly for You stamp set, Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Very Vanilla card stock, 1st Edition DSP, Crumb Cake and StazOn Black inks, Oval and Scallop Oval punches, Black 1 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, the Framed Tulip embossing folder and the very mini brads seen on page 199 in the new catty.

Here is the card we did we blowing bubbles. This is another really fun card. Yes, I know fish do not blow bubbles but I couldn't resist.
This card reminds me of the old Don Knotts movie "The Incredible Mr. Limpett."

How About a Quick and Cute Baby Card?

I happen to know about 10 young women who are expecting babies in the next couple of months. I don't know about you but I can always use a simple and easy to duplicate baby card. This one fits the bill!

Supplies Used:  Fox and Friends stamp set, Bashful Blue and Whisper White card stock, Just Add Cake DSP, Peach Parfait and Bashful Blue inks, 1 3/4" circle, 1 3/4" scallop circle, corner punch and Curly Label punches. I also used my Big Shot to make the Scalloped Square card by just punching on 3 sides and leaving the folded side uncut.

Thomas the Tank card

I have a very special patient/client who is turning 3 this week. He is soooo cute and soooo smart. Anyway, he loves his Thomas the Tank toys and video's and he is having a Thomas party this week. I feel very blessed to know this family and especially this little boy. My family was invited to his party and so I wanted to make a special card for him. This is my Thomas made with punches, cuts and one stamp.

Gift for a Friend

I was walking through a big box store yesterday shopping for last minute supplies for Camp Hickory at my church (ok, I was just asked to do a group on the 5th) and I saw a simple frame that had a design on it with a bow in the corner. I thought, "I could do that." And I did. This is for my great friend who teaches chorus to middle schoolers. God bless her! In case you are looking, yes, Theresa, this is for you.

I used the recently retired Newsprint DSP along with the Real Red 1 1/4" striped grosgrain ribbon and a vintage brad. The wooden frame came from my stash of good stuff.

Card for Acetate Smackin'

Here is the card that we made to go with the A technique. I kept all the cards fairly simple so as to not overwhelm anyone and to be able to get finished in a timely manner.

Technique - A is for Acetate Smackin'

I have decided to blog my recently finished Technique Book with the technique page and then projects to go with the technique. I am going to make this my Wednesday post each week until I am finished...should be about 26 weeks. Feel free to CASE away. I have done this book twice with my regulars and have had great success!

I did it in ABC order and some of the colors, stamp sets etc... may be retired but you can just use a substitute! My booklet was done in the 6x6 format. The first go-round I did one letter each month and charged $10 per class. The 2nd time I did 2 letters per month.

First I am showing A for Acetate Smackin'

Using Scraps to Make Cards

Do you have any left over DSP or any scraps??? I know I have a whole drawer full of scraps. I always try to use those first but they seem to be multiplying anyway. This card gives you a quick and simple sketch for using those scraps. Supplies used: Peach Parfait, Basic Black and Whisper White card stock, Just Add Cake DSP and the stamp is from the hostess set Happiest Birthday Wishes.

Don't forget, we are making birthday cards this Saturday here at my home at 10 AM. See the post here for more info.

I got a RAK!

2-4-6-8 Box

I haven't made one of these little boxed in a while and so I made this one using a piece of Brights DSP. If you have never done one and want to know how, email me and I will send you the directions or better yet, let's book a party and do one there! I used the Create a Cupcake stamp set using Daffodil Delight, Chocolate Chip, Real Red and Old Olive inks/markers. This is a fun one because it features a punch to punch out all the elements.

Just add little treats and it make a great party favor or gift for a friend or co-worker.

Stamping 411 Challenge 210

I am playing with this challenge today. Got to keep those juices flowing! I made another clean and simple (CAS) card that turned out to be a great masculine card. I can never have too many of those...they are always a challenge for me. I used Pocket Silouettes along with Baja Breeze, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla card stock. The DSP is newly retired but it worked so I used it. Check out the great vintage trinkets. Have a great day and I will be talking to you again soon.

CCMC157 - Sketch Challenge

It's time again to play with Connie and Mary. Their sketch's always challenge me to "make-up" my own cards and not rely on CASEing. So today it is this sketch.

I kept my simple and did not try to flip it or anything this week. I used the stamp sets of Circle Circus and Curly Cute. My card is Saffron with layers of Baja and Whisper White. Other colors used were Expresso & Pear Pizazz. I also used my Big Shot for the white background piece.
