As you can see, I chose to go square for my card. I am challenged to get a good photo of round cards. They always turn sort of caddywhompus!?! Again, I have the sea on my mind this week after such a wonderful week in the Florida Keys. On one spectacular dive we saw...a nurse shark (about 12" from my face), a 7' spotted eagle ray, a school of 25+ barracuda, a 6' green moray eel (beautiful blue eyes), a cool minnow cave and a 3-400 pound Goliath grouper. Of course we also saw lobsters but the lobsters we have do not have claws! Pretty sweet dive!
My place to stamp, create and share! I am proud to be a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and the team leader for the Judi's Cuties!

Paper Tents - Technique Tuesday
Jul 8Tents -- Donna Griffith
from WWW.YOUTUBE.COM
TENTS -- DONNA GRIFFITH
There are so many fabulous projects in the Annual Catalog and you may be wondering where do we get our inspiration for all of them? Many of the projects you see are original designs, but when we do need inspiration we look the same place you do, on the internet. That's where we found the pattern to make this clever tent favor. Just type in Summer Camp Tent Pattern in your search engine -- we choose this pattern featured at waffleflower.com. We modified the tent so that it was closed on one side, so we drew in an extra flap. We also made the slit in tent longer. 1. Enlarged 133% 2. Copy onto Old Olive Cardstock 3. Cut and score 4. Then stamp using the Woodgrain background stamp. 5. Adhere using sticky strip and embellish. We made a cute pennant for our tent. Use a paper piercer to poke a hole in the top of tent for the pennant. We used ABC-123 Outline Alphabet and Number stamp set on a Tangerine Tango Triangle. You can use this as favor for a camping theme birthday party or any other treat giving occasion. Your Stampin' Up! demonstrator can order any of the supplies you need to make these. If you don't have a demonstrator, visit our website to locate one near you. Have fun making this fun project. Until next time -- happy stamping!
CCMC261 - A Sketch
I have to admit, I was a bit stumped when I first saw this. I have just come off a 10 day vacation and have not stamped in about 2 weeks. My juices were not flowing. Plus, I just realized that I had forgotten to hit send on an order and so I had to pay extra to get it here! Also, my stamping center has been overcome by spiders in my 2 week absence. There are about a million teeny, weeny spiders. If that does not creep you out...come over and help me clean them out!
I decided on Halloween. I don't have any of the new Halloween sets and so I had to pull from my Bootiful Occasions. Love that set and don't use it enough. So, here is my challenge card. Colors used: Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, &Rich Razzleberry.
My Last Day of Summer
Ok, I really have it easy...I am a nurse in the public school setting so I have the best of hours and lots of days off but it is still hard to have to set the alarm when school starts back at the end of the summer. I have to go in for pre-planning tomorrow and the kids come to school on August 7th.
Well, enough of my whining. I really do have the best job in the world! So, here is my last washi card (at least until I get some of the new tapes)! Don't you love this quote by Victor Borge.

By the Seashore -- PPA 165
I am back from my vacation to the Florida Keys with my DH. We did a lot of scuba diving and he reached his 500th dive on this trip! I am not far behind but I don't do the 'cold' water diving in the springs like he does. I am a Diva Diver!
So, I was diving and saw a large crab, about 10" body and when I called for Mike to come look I could not find it! As we went on and came back I found it again. It had so many colors on it that it blended into all the coral around it. How cool is that? So, that is where I got my inspiration for this challenge card. In case you don't know, the ocean is also "My Happy Place." Hence, the sentiment.
Another By the Sea Card
I found this one out in the net land and don't remember who I cased it from but isn't it gorgeous! Whoever made it used colors that are now retired so I have to convert to current colors but the rest is all theirs. I love the seahorse in this set. Seahorses are quite scarce to find in the oceans so it is always a big treat to find one. The one I found is Grand Cayman in June was actually yellow!

My Last Day of Summer
Well, it is a Sunday for me as I post this and Sunday's are one of the best things in life. Praise be to our Lord who has made himself a little lower than the angels to save me! Now, I made this little washi card heart by taping to a rectangle then using my Big Shot and the hearts to cut it and the center heart out. How simple again!
I went back and added some faux stitching to this card to submit it to a stitched heart challenge. Here is the final draft.

Faux Tearing Card
I love how simple it is to make pretty cards using this easy technique. I showed this technique on my blog here. Now I am showing a card that I made using it. Being a lover of the sea and a fish hugger (not eater) I made this great card for my upcoming Birthday Stamp-a-Stack.

The New In Colors Card
Each year I challenge myself to make at least one card using all the new In Colors. This year I chose the set Clockworks for my card. I like the set but do not use it enough. So, without further babble...here is my card.
The new colors are: Baked Brown Sugar, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, and Crisp Cantaloupe. Hmm, someone was hungry when they named these!

Technique Tuesday - masking tape
Well, today I am showing a new technique that I found on the net. It involves masking tape and ink. I found it so simple and made this card in less than 10 minutes. Simply cut/tear the tape, lay the sticky part in your ink and tape it to your card. Do as much or little as you desire. When you remove the tape you have a cool effect. As you can see by the shine, I used the glossy card stock.

Apothecary Arts Birthday Card
I don't know about you but whenever the new catalog comes out I tend to want to only play with the newest stamp sets. Well, I have been making myself play with all of them. Nothing makes me sadder or madder than having a set retire and I totally never used it! Well, I have certainly used this one and it still makes pretty cards. This is another one for the upcoming August class.

Another catalog case of sorts...
This is another case of sorts but in the catalog it is a very pretty frame. Now, I love frames and pretty things but I simply do not have space to put them out in this house. But I really like the layout so I made mine into a card. I think it turned out just as well. Again, I am using Summer Starfruit and have it paired up with Soft Sky.

Quick Gift Card Holder
What? No challenge card today? That's right. And, I am heading out of town for a week of vacation and relaxation so I will not be able to submit any more challenges after today. I am heading for the Florida Keys and a 3 day cruise tomorrow after work! Then when I get back...it is 3 days until the school year starts again. My how time flies when you are having fun!

Creating Pretty Cards – Sketch Challenge #25!
Yes, this is my 2nd submission for this challenge also. This is the site where if they get at least 10 submissions they give a FREE month of tutorials. I won last month and I am still choosing my winnings. It is such fun to get these full page ideas. My card today has a Christmas slant since I am still in the Christmas in July mode.
CCMC260...SPECIAL 2 Week Color AND Sketch Challenge Again
This is a 2nd submission for this challenge. I wanted to try to get a little closer to the layout although this one still is not an exact fit. I did use the colors...Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe and Calypso Coral. I made a shaped card and added a little paper bow from a site I saw here. It really tuned out cute and you can make these for so many cards and they will fit in the envelope better than a lot of ribbons.

Technique Tuesday - Masking
MASKINGDirections:1) Stamp your image twice: once on card stock and once on a scrap piece of paper or sticky note. 2) Cut out the image on the scrap paper using either a hobby blade or your Paper Snips. 3) Place the cutout image over the image you stamped on your card stock. 4) Sponge or bray ink, or stamp another image over your mask. 5) Repeat masking as desired. 6) Remove mask and finish your project. |

Meeting 2 Challenges with 1 Card!
I have combined a color challenge with a sketch to make 1 card for 2 different blogs! I have not done that before but it was actually very easy. Why haven't I thought of this before? So, the challenges are:
& the
Now for my card...
I actually made this one for my DH who has been having a rough time at work recently.
Hang in there...God knows the plans He has for His church.
Week 3 - Sketch Challenge Subscribers Only
I am playing with a sketch today and again, these are the most simple for me. You just fill in the blanks with your own stamps, colors and shapes. Today I used the layout as is. It made a simple and quick card. Then when I am stumped I often come back to a sketch I like and just re-do it.
For today I used By the Tide for my stamp set and used Crumb Cake, Coastal Cabana and Whisper White. I love this new DSP from the mini that starts on the 1st of August. You can never go wrong with dots.

Create with Connie and Mary 260 - CCMC260
This is a double challenge and it will last for 2 weeks giving everyone time to play...especially if you are NOT going to the Stampin' Up! convention and it will also give all the designers who are going enough of a break that they can do all that last minute stuff! I will probably play more than once even though I will be going on vacation next week. This first one is a shape card using the colors for the challenge. Not sure which category it fits!

PPA 163 Color Challenge
The Pals Paper Arts are doing a color challenge this week...Cherry Cobbler, Midnight Muse and Very Vanilla. It just so happens that I was planning my last stamp-a-stack Christmas card and this challenge inspired me to use these colors for my card. I hope you like it and I hope to see you here on August 3rd at 10 AM. This card was made using one of the newest stamp sets from the Holiday mini, Santa's List. Isn't he cute!

Challenge #153: Ann's Christmas in July Challenge
Just in time for a reminder of my Christmas in July stamp-a-stack. We will be meeting on July 12th at 10 AM or August 3rd at 10AM for my annual Christmas in July event. We will be making 10 cards, 2 of each design. This is just one of the cards we will be making at this fun event. This one is very clean and classy!

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge 271 (TSSC271)
This is a fun sketch with so many possibilities. I actually have just designed a card or 2 like this for my 'manly man' cards for the men at my church. They all get one on their birthdays. As with most folks, I am a bit challenged for making masculine cards. This one I think can go either way. Or just change the colors and go completely masculine.
I used the new Gorgeous Grunge with the 'old' Postage Due and One in a Million. I used some of the DSP from the Epic Day pack and added more grunge on it. It came together quickly and easily. Enjoy!

Technique Tuesday - Faux Stitching
Have you ever seen a great paper craft project that included stitching but either you don't have a sewing machine or you don't want to drag it out? Well, I loved this card in the catalog but it called for sewing. Don't get me wrong, I am quite the seamstress but my machine is not out or close by. So, I put the card together, used my handy-dandy paper piercing pack and tool and voila...faux stitching. I added a tiny bit of the back marker to give it a sewn look but you can just leave only holes.

Ok, it is early in the month so you have plenty of time to play with this one. By the way, I did win a month's subscription for last month's card submissions. Yea! This is another simple sketch and when you go to this link you can even get to the dimensions used for the card if you need it. Please play, the more the merrier and the more FREE subscriptions to free tutorials.
See, this sketch is simple. And my card is very simple also. I may have to do this one again! It has been raining so much here in Atlanta that I just had to used the sunshine stamp to feel better!

Week 2 - Color Challenge
Ok, these colors are rather muted together. I did not have any of the new colors in my designer papers. So, I did the next best thing, I pulled out 3 scraps of the colors and began searching for a catalog card that would fit my style and be used with these colors. I found one in last year's catalog. Different stamp set but the same idea. I used Field Flowers and Trust God stamp sets for my card. It really came together nicely. I stamped on vellum to 'soften' the look.
