Friendly Phrases

For this card I combined a lot of ideas. I really liked the look of the card on page 21 in the catalog so I used that layout. I also used the color combo for the Dynamic Duos and the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge from The Paper Players. Basically, I had fun with it. I love the Vintage look and love the DSP Etcetera so I used that for my banner.

Thanks for dropping by.

Another Challenge Card - A Redo

I decided to give the 2 challenges a 2nd try since I did not 'love' my other card. This one is much cuter to me. I love the little turkey and since an old project with a turkey fell off my shelf I guess you could say I found inspiration to make this card. Again, I used the sketch from PPA173 and the colors of CCMC270.

PPA173 - Sketch Challenge

PPA173

It is a sketch and I tried combining it with the colors for the CCMC challenge. Not sure I am in love with it but it does fit both criteria. I was a bit stumped for something to do today. Perhaps more inspiration will come later.

Washi Wonderful

I cased this idea from Patty Bennett who cased it from Stampin' Up! It is another 5 minute or less card. I am really starting to love this washi tape and they have it in the mini now for Halloween and Christmas!

Cutest Baby Ever!

The title sounds like a scrapbook page or baby picture but actually it is a baby card that I made to meet 2 challenges this week. I saw the SUO challenge was for a baby card and the sketch at MoJo Monday looked like a fun way to make a baby card so Voila! Now you have a little glimpse of how my mind likes to jump around.  Since I don't have any traditional baby stamps I made the next best thing...a camera for making the baby picture!

Halloween Happiness

I don't know about you but Halloween always brings up happy memories for me. We always dressed up and headed out for a night of candy and frolicking with friends. We used to get full sized candy bars and there was no shortage of good will. We even ate things that our neighbors made for us! I understand that there is much more evil out there now but it is still a fun day! I guess that is why I always love making Halloween cards and treats. So, my card today is for The Paper Players challenge for the week. I did not have any current Halloween DSP so I used the very fun washi tape to make my own.

Still fun for me!

Technique Tuesday - Penny Spinners

PENNY SPINNERS

Directions:
1) Use Word Window punch or hobby blade to cut a 3/8" slot (straight, zigzag, or curved) into your card stock. Stamp card stock as desired.

2) Sandwich a Stampin' Dimensional between two pennies.

3) Insert pennies into slot, carefully pulling at edges to avoid tearing card stock.

4) Stamp and cut out your spinner image. Adhere to penny.

5) Adhere card stock piece with spinner to your card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

My Paper Pumpkin - July

To say that I am a bit behind on the Paper Pumpkins is a bit of an understatement. However, I had a day off and worked late using my kits. The first kit I got I made all the cards as they had shown on the cover. Not so this time...I perused Pintrest and cased some of these little beauties.

Big Bow Card

I made this card thinking of the challenge at Creating Pretty Cards. It is a fun challenge and an easy layout. This time I used the bow for the upper embellishment. Isn't this a fun little bow? It would be hard to mail but a great addition to many other projects or for a 'hand-deliverable' card.

Halloween Hello

I just got this new set since I did not have any Halloween sets. It is fun with so many little stamps. I am sure I will be able to do a lot with it. I have some ideas in mind so keep checking back for some of the great projects I will be making for Halloween.

Today I am showing a card I made with this set. I made a square 4 1/4" card. I love the colors of Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black and Rich Razzleberry for Halloween. I used the Tape it set and some of the Halloween washi tape. It is a simple layout but very fun! See what others are doing with it here at Pals Paper Arts.

Pedal Praise

Have joined the Paper Pumpkin craze yet? Well, if not, why not? You get all you need to make cute cards and projects all in one in the mail every month. I used the little bike stamp from the August Paper Pumpkin for this card. It matches the Birthday Basics DSP perfectly.

This sketch for this layout is from the blog of Create with Connie and Mary. I love their challenges and all their fun ideas. Check them out here. They have a wonderful challenge every week!

Halloween Happiness

CCMCFALL13-03

While hopping around on some of my very favorite blogs and challenges I came back to the Create with Connie and Mary challenge for the week. I looked at my very simple card and at the colors and Voila! I got an idea. See how cute the pumpkins look in those colors...well, I decided to use the Halloween Happiness stamp in those colors for my pumpkins. See that Very Vanilla DSP...I used a piece of the Eastern  Elegance and my Very Vanilla ink to make it vanilla like the rest of the card pieces. I think it turned out rather cute in spite of the non-Halloween colors.

Thanks for visiting my blog. See you tomorrow!

Another MoJo Monday - 311

I am playing with the MoJo Monday sketch today. It really does get your mojo going, even if it is not on Monday. I actually did this one on Tuesday! Here is my card.

And now for the sketch.

CCMC268 - Color Challenge

CCMC268

Well, I almost missed this challenge skidding there just under the gun. I guess I must have seen it but put it out of my mind then this evening I stumbled upon it and realized I had not played yet. By the look of things not many players were in on this color challenge. These are really pretty colors. I am loving how they look so good with the fall feelings. I went with more of the floral theme with my card. I used the Too Kind stamp set with the colors and did a little embossing on the side with the Flower Garden, a CAS card.

Technique Tuesday - Gradation

gra·da·tion
grāˈdāSHən/
noun
1.
a scale or a series of successive changes, stages, or degrees.
"within the woodpecker family, there is a gradation of drilling ability"
synonyms:rangescalespectrum

Now that you know what gradation means you can see it here in this card. I gradually brayered my colors darker and darker towards the left of the card. How is it done? I am going to attempt to explain it to you.
  • Choose your color scheme. I used Pool Party, Coastal Cabana and Island Indigo.
  • Emboss your layer (should you choose, it is not necessary).
  • Ink your brayer with the lightest color first and go across the page
  • Ink with middle color and bray across card leaving some of the lighter color showing.
  • Ink with darkest color and again bray leaving some of the other 2 colors showing.
  • Voila!
Have fun with it...I know I did and it really does not take long to make a super fun card.

CAS Birthday Card for a Kid

I found this cute DSP from the catalog and knew it was perfect for a birthday card, especially for a child. I happen to know quite a few children as I am sure you do too. So, I looked at the paper and decided that I could quickly cut a birthday hat using the pennant punch on different papers. The little fringe at the top is the owl punch foot. This was as clean and simple as it gets for this wild paper. Perfect for the Paper Players Challenge this week.

Etcetera, etc...

I found that last year I did not open all my DSP's enough to see the cute designs especially the ones who needed no stamping. The Etcetera DSP has some papers like that and I decided to use the Patents piece here for a quick 'no stamping' card. It came together easily (one I decided on the colors). I used the sketch at MoJo Monday 310 for this card. I found it also matches the color challenge at PPA171.

WooHoo! A 2-fer!

'Fun' Technique Time

I am submitting this card for the SUO Challenge #79 -- A Favorite Technique. Now, I actually combined 2 techniques for this card. I cannot ever decide on just one favorite technique or color. So, I decided to try the Cracked Glass Technique but I wanted a mixed colored leaf so I stamped my leaf using the Baby Wipe technique. I had not done the Cracked Glass in years so I was a bit challenged with it and some of my glazing really cracked! My colors were Wild Wasabi, More Mustard, and Elegant Eggplant. The stamp is from the set Wonderfall.

Simply Sketched

I have to say that this Hostess set caught my eye immediately when the new catalog came out. It is so simple and yet can make such pretty cards. This one I did for the challenge you can see here. It seems that I missed my post for today and did not catch it until I got home from working all day and jumped on the internet and saw no post for today! Eek, how could I let it happen? Well, fret not. I am late but here it is...

Betsy's Blossoms

The idea for this card came from Mary Brown, ie...Stampercamper. I love her clean and simple style. It fits mine to a tee. I looked at a card that she had made and changed the colors and elements to make one like it. Sweet, huh?

Swallowtail...a catalog CASE

A beautiful 1 layer/no layer card. I was flipping through my catty once again looking for inspiration and saw something like this in the accessories area and quickly cut it and stamped it. It literally took me less than 10 minutes to make it. I used a piece of 6x6 Whisper White for the card. Colors are Tempting Turquoise and Pumpkin Pie. You cannot go wrong with butterflies and God!

Santa's List

CCMCFALL13-02

A fun sketch and I thought that I would play along. This is actually the 2nd card I made for this sketch but when I got ready to post the 1st one I noticed that it really resembled Hayley's. I had even used the same DSP! So, I quickly decided to do another one. As with the last one, this is also a Christmas card. I like this layout and used my Santa (love him) for the focal point.

Another Pocket Card - Merry Christmas style

I played again with the pocket style card and this time I made it Christmas themed. It would make a great little tag on a Christmas tree with maybe a gift card or cash tucked inside. I used the Merry Little Christmas Card Simply Created kit to make my card along with the Big Shot.

Thanks So Much

Today I am playing with a color challenge and I was really stumped for a while then I went to my collection of convention board samples that was shared and decided to case this card. I live the Gorgeous Grunge set and used it for the background. I ended up having fun with it and then I sent it to my MIL for the birthday gift  she sent a week ago.

Feel Better - Not So Wishy Washi

The more I play with it, the more I love it...that is the washi tape. It is so easy to make a quick and pretty card with it. For this card I used it on the background. Then I stamped in Gumball Green the Wildflower Meadow and embossed it using the matching Embossing Folder. I then punched it out to make a cool focal point and mounted it on the flower from the Big Shot Floral Framelit. I used the BoHo punch for the yellow center and the Bights candy dot to finish it. The sentiment is from Sassy Salutations.

Ribbons and Bows SUO

Well, I did not really love the project with the curly ribbon and thought I might play along again. This time I dressed up one the great Kraft Gift Boxes from the catalog. They are great filled with candy or anything that you can think of really. This one is done with a big paper bow for Halloween so candy will be going in it for the little girl next door.

A Pocket Card

I actually made this card today for 2 challenges...one was the pocket card challenge and one was a color challenge.  It is hard to play with 2 at once for me...not sure I followed the sketch exactly but I did what I could with making a masculine pocket card. Of course, I used a candy bar for the base of the card but it was a bit too long so I had to cut out and eat some of the candy bar.  Hence, there is a tiny bit of chocolate on the shirt!

This makes a great card for a man for his birthday or bosses day.

Guest Stamper - Aubrey Bracegirdle

OK, so my daughter that just got married is wanting to make Christmas cards and she has been thinking about it for a few weeks now. She played with making one and did not like it so she flipped through the mini a few times and decided to try her hand with the Build-A-Banner kit. This is the card that she made.

I think it turned out very cute! P.S. She stamped all her cards in one sitting. After making the prototype seen here she went to town and completed 16 more for her 1st Christmas card send out. And, she made and finished them on August 18th. Always ahead of the rush! How about you, where are you on making your cards?

Not Your Basic Black and White

For this card I saw a video made by a demonstrator and decided to do it. It was simple and I really did not need the video, I just needed to see the card. I used 2 stamp sets, Delicate Doilies and Lacy and Lovely. I also used lots of punches as you can see. The card is mounted over a piece of Basic Black to really make it POP!

Masculine Birthday Card

I know it is always hard to plan and make masculine cards. There just are not THAT many masculine stamp sets or sets that will bend towards a man. Now this one is not just masculine, it could actually go either way. Just add a few diamonds or pearls to make it more feminine. I tried to use very neutral colors with the Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate.

Gently Falling

I made this quick and pretty little card for the Creating Pretty Cards Challenge for the month of September. It is such an easy sketch that I can say that I may play again with it.
